Inner Journeys Dance Co.
Inner Journeys Dance Co. is a Calgary based dance performance group. We are a group of seven artists with diverse skills in dance, theatre, visual art, acrobatics, martial arts and contact dance. The troupe merges contemporary with ecstatic dance to share heartfelt, intentional performance that draw audience members in, guiding them through narratives that inspire them to look inwards.
The Inner Journeys Dance Co. was created by Kylee Dawn (founder of Inner Journeys) and Kyra Newton (Independent Dance Artist), who share a common vision of expanding the dance community to bring people the gift of dance. The team of dancers have come together to expand their passions for movement, creation and performance. The foundation of the Dance Company is based on the philosophies of Inner Journeys, a place for individuals to dive into safe self exploration. Free form movement, contemplation, sound, breath and stillness are all supported by the practice and with the intention to guide each participant to access the freedom within. Performance and the practice of dance can offer knowledge, awareness and embodiment of Self, transferring to all aspects of life.
Inner Journeys Dance Co. has completed their first tour across Alberta to perform at several festivals. It is their mission to ignite the dance community with innovative performance art. They intend to share their love for movement and journeying inward with others, in hopes of inspiring self actualization, stronger community ties, and joy. They are available for collaborations, event bookings, special occasions, festivals as well as workshops. Thank you and many blessings.
